Mrs J is a 90 year old lady with a heart condition and poor mobility living in Staffordshire. She has a personal alarm pendant and smoke detector in her property which were installed in 2021.
Mrs J pressed her pendant as she had fallen and cut her head. The Careium operator called for an ambulance and alerted her next of kin (NOK) and a mobile responder was dispatched to the property.
The responder arrived onsite at 14:28 (a 23 minute response time), and applied pressure to the wound but the client was losing a lot of blood and required four changes to the material used to apply pressure on the injury.
Careium’s ARC called the ambulance to update them on the fact Mrs J was losing a lot of blood and they stated it would still take a couple of hours and enquired if she could be driven to A&E. The client then started to go in and out of consciousness and when NOK arrived they let the emergency services know that they couldn’t drive her to A&E due to her deteriorating condition.
The responder remained at the proporty alongside the family and made Mrs J as comfortable as possible and reassured her until the ambulance arrived at 16:05 and the client was able to receive treatment and recover in hospital.
