Emergency Siren – Sunday 23 April

A siren will go off on nearly every smartphone in the UK on Sunday 23 April, the government has announced. It is the first nationwide test of the UK’s new emergency alert system.

The 10 seconds of sound and vibration will be at 3pm and will test the new alerts system. The test message and alarm is expected to hit 90% of mobile phones in the UK. Phone users can swipe away the alert message or click “OK” on their home screen to continue using their phone as normal.

The alert is not connected to your personal alarm service so please do not worry, our service will continue to work and you do not need to do anything about this alert.

In the future the alert will only be sent to phones when there is an immediate threat to life. It is also expected to be targeted to locals in immediate danger, rather than the entire country.
