Sheffield City Wide Alarms announces partnership with Centra

Sheffield City Council is delighted to announce that ‘Centra Pulse and Connect’ is the new provider of their telecare monitoring service which includes supporting the dispatch of the City Wide Alarms response team. Centra will take over from the existing provider on Monday 25th November 2019.

Centra, has been at the forefront of the UK’s telecare market for over 30 years and is one of the UK’s top monitoring centres.

In September 2019 Centra was acquired by Doro Group and together with its existing business, the company will handle close to 200,000 connections in the UK

The key benefits of the new partnership will be the shared values of collaboration, innovation and business continuity.

Both Centra and City Wide Alarms will work together with the collective aim of continually improving services. This will include shared learning; service promotion to raise awareness and marketing activities to generate demand focusing on early intervention and prevention, enabling an increasing number of citizens in Sheffield to be able to benefit from the telecare services.

Centra’s call handling platform UMO is one of the leading systems in the industry and will allow Sheffield to innovate in terms of the range of products supported in people’s homes covering a wide range of needs such as; Falls, Dementia, Learning Disabilities, Mental Health, and Physical disabilities and Sensory impairment, ensuring that we are able to tailor packages to deliver the best possible outcomes for people in receipt of care.

Centra’s commitment to business continuity will result in greater service resilience for the large and often vulnerable customer base in Sheffield that currently benefit from telecare services.  

The service includes; Installation, 24 hours 7 days a week monitoring and response services and maintenance of the Carelines and associated equipment, which are  available to anyone over 18 living in the City of Sheffield.

The City Wide Alarms Service includes a mobile response team who are able to assist individuals when family or friends don’t live nearby or they live alone. The staff are all professionally trained and equipped, for example, to safely help people up from the floor if they have fallen. The service is inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and has been rated as Good.

Current customers can rest assured they will see no difference in the quality of the service provided. All the alarm calls will be answered and dealt with in the same way and there will be no change to any charges that may be payable for the service, and the service will be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week just as it is now.
