What can I do for free with dad on Father’s Day?

On a budget this Father’s Day? Don’t worry. There are still plenty of ways to show him you care – minus the expense.

Head for the beach: there’s nothing quite like the nostalgia of the seaside. And now the sun’s out, it’s the perfect opportunity to head to the beach. Take a walk along the pier or have a paddle in the sea. Alternatively, grab a couple of deck chairs and simply watch the world go by.

Have a picnic in the park: a little time together in nature is the perfect gift for your dad – especially if he’s housebound. Raid the cupboards, pack a hamper and bring the grandkids. Watching them play is the only entertainment you’ll need.

Just spend some quality time together: Whether you cook his favourite meal, sit down and watch a movie, or just have a cup of tea and a chat, spending the day together is what really counts. After all, you can’t put a price on time.

If you have an elderly father who is finding it harder to get out and about, it may be worth considering a personal alarm. There are a number of scenarios where a lifeline alarm can help.
