How In-home Activity Alarm works
The activity alarm is delivered to your door — no internet, Wi-Fi, cameras, or microphones needed. Setup is simple: remove the battery tab and place the sensor in your kitchen.
The sensor monitors daily activity patterns (movement, routine), silently and automatically. If it detects a lack of expected activity (or other abnormal signals), it triggers an alert.
The alert goes to our 24/7 monitoring centre. Trained operators respond immediately — if needed, they contact your emergency contacts. You feel safe and are secure.
DORIS is a discreet activity sensor that helps you stay safe and independent in your own home. It uses smart digital technology to learn your normal habits and if your activity levels change from their usual patterns, we will check you are OK.
How to get started:
All you need to do is pull the clear plastic tab completely away from the back of the unit. This will now activate the device – it’s that simple! Then place DORIS in your kitchen (on a shelf or worktop), making sure you keep it away from direct sunlight. The sensor will now discreetly monitor the atmosphere and activity levels in the kitchen.
Ongoing:
DORIS will silently send data to Careium every few hours. If there is a change to your normal patterns of behaviour or the temperature goes below 14 degrees or over 28 degrees for a 12-hour period, we will give you a call to check everything is OK. If we get no reply, we will call your nominated person so they can check you are OK – this is important as we will not call the emergency services, so please ensure you have someone who is available to call on you to check that you are ok. Battery – DORIS care has a 3-year battery and when this needs replacing Careium will get an alert and send you a replacement for free.
